LET'S LISTEN WITH OUR EYES

I am stunned, and almost moved to tears by the artist Christine Sun Kim.

I was a bit lost for words after seeing her creative process...and found a new window opening in my heart.
A spacious new place, this is why I love art, this is why I keep on looking.

THE HARE AND ME

HARE, originally uploaded by SeeLaPresidenta.
Working hard on my new textile projects. The more I focus, the more hares and rabbits I encounter.

THE HARE WE MEET

My next textile assignment will be something with hares and time travel.
I'm still working very hard to get things together.
A dear friend lend me this Japanese old calender drawing. It's just beautiful.

THE ECLAIR HOUSES

The little shacks on the ECLAIR logo are a typical thing for the Belgian coast.
In the early 20ties people already used the little wooden shacks on the Belgian beaches to stock their chairs and toys for the kids.
And they still are being used at some of the Belgian beaches like in Heist, one of my favorite places.

RED TIDE SURF

"On September 28th, 2011, the "Red Tide" hit San Diego shores. The neon-blue waves are not digitally created or altered from their original form.
This video was shot at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, Calif & North Ponto Beach in Carlsbad, Calif."

I was able to see this phenomenon with my own eyes during my sweet surf holiday in San Clemente California.
It is remarkable! It is magical!

"LOSING TIME STEALS YOUR INDEPENDANCE"

Out of three different cloths I created one woman.
She was cut up and stitched back together, her face different but unchanging.
Sewed on a background of flaming red garments for 'special occasions' that never occurred.

This was my finishing work for last year in Textile Arts at the Royal Academy of Antwerp. This work - "losing time steals your independence"- is one out of my collection of "Waiting Women".
More 'waiting women' will find a way out!

I'm really looking forward to start an new year from September.
